Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 inch Turmeric (root)
- 2-3 Black peppercorns (whole)
- 1 inch Ginger (root)
- Honey/Sugar
Optional but recommended:
- 1 inch Cinnamon stick
- 2-3 Cardamom pod
- 1/4 Star anise
- 1-2 Clove (without flower bud)
- Water (accounts for milk evaporation)
Black peppercorns: The piperine
(the compound in black pepper that enhances turmeric
absorption) in black pepper makes it an essential ingredient if you’re aiming to get the
most health benefits. Whole peppercorns have retain more beneficial properties than
pre-ground.
Preparation
- Add all ingredients to the milk.
- Heat up milk to a simmer. Use low heat to prevent burning the milk.
- Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Strain thru metal sieve directly into cup.
